CSLU–Prilep at Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair
International Promotion of Macedonian Art Heritage
November 21–24, 2019, Thessaloniki, Greece

Invited by Artistic Director Pantelis Tsatsis, the Center for Contemporary Art – Prilep (CSLU–Prilep) presented a curated selection of artworks created across six decades at one of the most prestigious art fairs in Southeast Europe – Art Thessaloniki. A rare international opportunity to showcase Macedonia’s cultural richness through the universal language of art.

In November 2019, the Center for Contemporary Art – Prilep (CSLU–Prilep) proudly participated in the Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair, held from November 21 to 24 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The invitation came directly from Mr. Pantelis Tsatsis, Artistic Director of the fair, recognizing CSLU–Prilep's long-standing contribution to regional and international visual culture.

The exhibition featured selected artworks created during the Center’s 62 years of uninterrupted artistic production, showcasing pieces from renowned international and local artists who have participated in CSLU’s workshops and symposia. These works, inspired by Macedonia’s natural, cultural, and spiritual heritage, served as ambassadors of its enduring artistic influence.

According to Goran Risteski, President of CSLU–Prilep and the key initiator of the presentation, the importance of participating in international platforms like Art Thessaloniki is immense:

“This is a unique opportunity to present our country through art—art that was inspired by Macedonia, but created by artists from around the world. We are proud to be part of a space where art knows no borders and speaks directly to the heart.”

The opening day saw an overwhelming interest and positive reception, signaling the international appeal and quality of CSLU–Prilep’s creative legacy. Visitors and art professionals alike praised the collection for its depth, diversity, and cultural significance.

On November 23, 2019, the fair was also visited by Deputy Minister of Culture, Mr. Vladimir Lazovski, marking a significant moment of national support. Risteski emphasized the crucial role of institutional and private backers such as the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Ministry of Culture, and Vitaminka Prilep, whose recognition and sponsorship made the presentation possible.

The participation at Art Thessaloniki was a powerful affirmation of the value and relevance of CSLU–Prilep’s artistic mission. More than just an exhibition, it represented a step forward in building sustainable international partnerships, while promoting Macedonia as a country with deep-rooted artistic excellence and a strong contemporary voice.
