Star Wars & Makedonium: Exhibition by Zoran Kardula

In a bold fusion of pop culture and national symbolism, graphic artist Zoran Kardula brought Star Wars into dialogue with Macedonian modernist heritage. Hosted at the Center for Contemporary Art – Prilep, the exhibition featured holograms, music, live performances, and powerful visual storytelling.

On October 10, 2022, the Center for Contemporary Art – Prilep hosted the exhibition “Star Wars & Makedonium” by renowned graphic designer and visual artist Zoran Kardula. This immersive event merged the iconic Star Wars universe with Macedonian visual identity, drawing special inspiration from the architectural monument Makedonium in Krushevo.

The exhibition occurred on the eve of the Macedonian national holiday October 11 and marked a unique cultural event that blended traditional and contemporary expressions. The gallery space transformed into a multidimensional visual experience, featuring holographic installations, light design, and thematic music performances.

The event included original music and performances by VolChello, Aleksandar Dzingo, and Zvonko Dimoski and was supported by 3rd Sector Production in audiovisual production. Visitors, many dressed in Star Wars-inspired costumes, engaged with the artwork in a theatrical atmosphere, bringing new cultural layers to familiar sci-fi icons.

Through this project, CSLA-Prilep reaffirmed its dedication to innovative and boundary-pushing cultural programming. The exhibition successfully bridged global and local themes, offering an unforgettable experience that captivated audiences and elevated the dialogue between art, heritage, and pop culture.
